Remembering Our Friend Robin Williams

Trips for Kids is celebrating our friend, sponsor and former Honorary Advisory Board Member, Robin Williams, by asking people to share their bicycle-related memories or tributes of this true icon. 2019 is the five-year anniversary of his death. This image shows Robin with Marilyn Price, our Founder, and Pat Gallery, our national Board of Directors Chair.

DISCOVERY & ADVENTURE

WHAT WE DO

____

Discovery Trail Rides

 Adventure Clubs

Every kid in every community deserves the opportunity to know the joy of riding a bike while enjoying the freedom to explore the natural world on two wheels. For some, this is their first venture beyond the boundaries of their urban neighborhoods!

When we go mountain biking, they encourage us not to give up, that we can do it, that anything’s possible, so they don’t give up on us. That’s all that matters, we need people not to give up on us.

BUILDING LIFE SKILLS

WHAT WE DO

____

Earn-a-Bike Workshops

Youth@Work ProgramS

Imagine an after-school classroom and job training space where kids use tools, complete projects and are mentored by students and adult volunteers! This is the Earn-a-Bike Workshop—kids complete lessons and earn credits towards their own bike.

Everyone at Trips for Kids was there to help. I work at Firestone and started out as a technician, just working with my hands again, something I knew about growing up with the Earn-a-Bike Program. The program gave me access to a skilled trade and soon after I built my way up and now I’m [a] manager at Firestone.
